The Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES) commits to enhancing the endocrine health and well-being of children and adolescents. Its committees, crucial to this mission, concentrate on different facets of pediatric endocrinology. Made up of specialists and professionals, these committees collaboratively promote research, education, and clinical care in the field.

Daniel B. Johnson

Daniel B. Johnson received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Chicago. He is currently pursuing his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, where he is in his fourth year of study. With a focus on Pediatric Endocrinology, Daniel has completed extensive clinical rotations specializing in the management of pediatric endocrine disorders. His primary interests include diabetes management, growth disorders, and thyroid disease in children and adolescents.

In addition to his clinical work, Daniel is actively involved in research aimed at advancing treatments for pediatric endocrine conditions. His dedication to both clinical excellence and innovative research underscores his commitment to improving pediatric healthcare. Daniel’s comprehensive approach and passion for his specialty make him an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring that young patients receive the highest quality care.

Brenda Kohn, MD

Brenda Kohn, MD, chose a career in medicine to make a significant impact and care for others in a setting that is both intellectually challenging and fulfilling. She is the director of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at NYU Langone.

Dr. Kohn treats children and adolescents with growth disorders, puberty-related disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, metabolic disorders, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and disorders of the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands.

In her diagnostic approach, she casts a wide net and leaves no stone unturned. Even if she suspects she knows what a child is experiencing, she completes a thorough evaluation and examines every detail to ensure the most accurate diagnosis. Her diagnoses and treatments have profoundly benefited the lives of many children.

Dr. Kohn collaborates with a skilled team of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and social workers at the Fink Children’s Ambulatory Care Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. Together, they provide comprehensive care for children and their families, supported by both clinical and basic science research conducted at NYU Langone.

Her research is centered on the adrenal gland, growth disorders, and pituitary disorders. Dr. Kohn has also been an active member of various committees within the Pediatric Endocrine Society and the Endocrine Society.

Amit Lahoti, MD

Amit Lahoti, MD, serves as an attending physician in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and holds the position of Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. Additionally, he directs the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship program there.

Dr. Lahoti’s clinical focus includes managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes, pediatric thyroid disease, and puberty-related disorders. His academic contributions encompass several published research articles and reviews, and he has presented at both national and international conferences. Throughout his career, he has guided numerous fellows in their research projects during their fellowship. His involvement in professional societies is extensive, having served as the co-chair of the Pediatric Endocrine Society’s (PES) Drugs and Therapeutics Committee from April 2020 to May 2022 and participating in the PES Diabetes Special Interest Group.

Dr. Lahoti’s medical education began at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and pursued a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York. In August 2014, he joined the faculty at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, where he remained until May 2022, also serving as the Associate Director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program from 2015 to 2022.
